How the records connect

A few records show who held formal roles in Utah Parents United (UPU), where book challenge instructions sent readers, and what campaign filings say.

How to read this: Each lane follows a different kind of record. The links below show only relationships the cited records name directly.

Lane 1 · Filed roles

Who held roles?

State filings name incorporators and directors.

  1. UPU’s articles name its incorporator and first directors

Brooke Stephens signed as incorporator on March 12. The state filing is dated March 15 and lists Stephens, Nichole Mason, and Lyle Mason as initial directors.

  2. UPU reports three directors

Its annual report lists Corinne Johnson, Korrin Dickson, and Melanie Mortenson as directors.

  3. Empowered Parents reports its directors

Its annual report lists Corinne Johnson, Lindsay Hull, and Korrin Dickson as directors.

Shared filed names: Corinne Johnson and Korrin Dickson appear as directors in both 2026 reports. The filings show a role overlap.

Lane 2 · Public instructions

Where did the guide send readers?

A saved UPU webpage linked ratings to school challenge steps.

  1. UPU’s LaVerna page points readers to ratings and school resources

The saved page directs readers to RatedBooks reports, maps, a book list, and school library catalogs.

  2. In the guide

Ratings are part of the suggested search

It says: “Start with the worst books, rated 5/5 and 4/5.” It then tells readers to ask a principal for a media challenge form.

What this shows: UPU’s saved page directed readers from ratings and school catalogs toward a challenge form. The extract is not a screenshot or school policy.

Lane 3 · Campaign records

What do campaign filings say?

One political action committee (PAC) names UPU as an affiliate; another reported a payment to UPU.

  1. Utah Parents in Action lists UPU as an affiliate

The PAC’s state registration names Utah Parents United as its affiliated organization. Utah Parents in Action is a separate PAC.

  2. Adams Leadership PAC reports $10,000 to UPU

A separate campaign-finance record lists the payment as “Donations.” It is not a payment from Utah Parents in Action.

Keep the records separate: Utah Parents in Action is UPU’s declared affiliate. Adams Leadership PAC is a different PAC that reported a payment to UPU.

Why these records matter

These records show shared directors, UPU’s challenge instructions, a PAC affiliation and a separate payment. Each link establishes a different relationship.
